So for January 2009:

1. Actually write something worthwhile.

2. Take quality pictures.

3. Finish Flying Boy Films Show Reel.

4. Drink plenty of water daily.

5. Ride my bike on a daily basis…(when necessary)

6. Shoot a short video.

Skip forward to 10 minutes ago.

I open my cabinet to grab a mug and sitting there is a half filled carton of orange juice that must now be poured down the drain.

Lack of sleep is starting to make its presence.

I just finished watching THE THIN RED LINE for the umpteenth time…again on the verge of tears as I watch the scene when the US soldiers attack the Japanese camp at the top of the ridge. Everytime I see that scene, along with score, it evokes in me an emotion that I just have never had watching other movies. Yes, other scenes have made me cry, but there is something in this scene that causes a confusion within me where I want to feel some more emotion, but cannot. It is difficult to explain.

And yes, there is so much more to this movie that I could talk about. Poetry. Nature. Cinematography. But, for the time being, this is all that I needed to say.

Is it just me, or is it strange to think that your own family actually had a life before you were born. I’m talking a legitimate life. Happiness. Sadness. Frustration. Love. It all existed before any of us were even here. It will still exist when we are gone. My life has always involved my family, whether or not they are in it with a daily presence, I’m still always thinking about them. So it’s strange to think that there was life for them without me. I don’t mean to sound egotistical or anything, it’s just all I know. But then, as I turn the tables on myself,  I’m now 26 years old, and I figure I have probably another 55 some years or so in this world, planning good health and no accidents…so it’s like…perhaps my life hasn’t even started at all. I mean, granted, yes, I’ve lived a fairly calm 26 years so far, no crazy Michael Bay action movie sequences, maybe a couple of Woody Allen moments…and if I have 50 more years, I guess I can expect that there is still a lot to my life that may or may not happen.

50 years = 18250 days (not counting leap years). I have this many more days to do something.

So far I’ve lived approximately 9490 days, with the majority of them in school. Now, being done with school, (the organized version of life), I’m in the early stages of building my own schedule. Obviously, I can’t take for granted that I’m going to have another 9490 days, or 2000 days, 100 days, or even 1 day more in this world, but well, being the non-pessimist that I am, I’m going to hope for at least another 10000 days for me to continue to build my life. Hopefully, bringing in some more life during that time as well.

Anyway, back to my original idea. My parents. I didn’t meet them until they were 31 years old. Yes, I’ve been told a little bit here and there of their life before me, but is it wrong of me that sometimes it just doesn’t seem real? I’ve seen the pictures. I seen the super8 films. But again, it’s just that…not tangible.

I don’t know where I am going with this entry anymore. It’s just a thought of mine I had today.

Well, I have taken up the new sport/hobby of indoor rock climbing. One day, I hope to take the step and go outdoors, to make it outdoor rock climbing, but at the moment, due to a lacking of proper skills, I am sticking to the indoor version, until further notice.

How? Why? Since when? Is this what you are asking yourself?

Well, it’s simple really. I signed up for a class. I wanted to get back in shape. Since Tuesday. That’s right, I’ve been doing it for two days straight now. If that isn’t a streak and show of dedication, I don’t know what is.

My fingers are sore. I may or may not have pulled a muscle in my shoulder…can you feel the suspense? And, my feet are mad at me for being crammed like sardines in a can. But this is no can, it’s a shoe.

Nevertheless, I think this just might stick. I quite enjoy it.

Anyway…back to reality. I am frustrated with the fact that I am having some difficulty creating anything worthy of being created. I sit and stare at a monitor for hours and end up with three different versions of trash. A couple of times a day an idea may stumble somehow into my head, then I laugh at it, and forget to write it down, and well, of course am left with nothing to recall it again. Another wasted opportunity.

I really ought to work on some better posture.

I had very little human contact today. I think I spoke to about 4 people in all.

1. Woman at the Post Office

2. Woman at the counter of DAPHNE’S

3. Man at Trader Joes

4. My dad on the phone.

Yup. This is about right.

I wonder if frustration is natural when one has too much free time on their hands. Does one automatically feel that if he or she is unproductive, they have wasted the day. Obviously unproductive has many different meanings to different people. If I sit in front of a cafe reading for 2 hours, I am actually feeling productive, despite not actually earning any cash money. But, in that same vein, if I sit in front of my computer watching 2 hours of youtube videos…nope, not feeling productive. Watching movies can go either way, pending on my mood.

Lemonade + Seltzer Water + Cranberry Juice = Pig’s Blood.

Okay…Clearly I’ve lost my train of thought, and this entry is going nowhere.
